In “Indigo” our aim is to consider dance as the movement of the space around the body, but also to consider dance as the answer to the movement of the space around the body, dance as an act of transformation, dance as a result of the perception of the Other i.e. dance that engages the Other. What we are interested in is kinesthetic empathy, the bodily understanding of another, coalescence, the sharing of space. Methodologically speaking, this art piece is a continuation of the previous piece by the Pregrad-Šimičić-Užbinec trio called “Movement Thought Turn” wherein the three authors/performers tackled the question of motivation and dealt with the revelation of the process of how dance i.e. performance material comes to be, verbally articulating thoughts that precede a certain act or are present during it. This new art piece is a product of the sharpening of certain segments of the performance which are directly (or indirectly) conditioned by the Other: the movement of the Other, the gaze of the Other, the vicinity of the Other…dancer, as well as the audience.
