Me Then You Then We. episode Strangers

"She lives an ordered life, her clothes are neat and ironed, her nails are clean and manicured, and her locks of hair don't just fall about all over the place. When she walks, she has a regular gait[CB1], and if she had a moustache, it would be well-groomed. Furthermore, the space in which she moves shares a similiar harmony. Everything here is somehow arranged at right angles, the order is maintained and things are cared for. The contours of her world are clear and its borders are firm. And the darkness in which she sleeps is serene. Her dreams don't bring any surprises. And that is the way it would have been until who knows when, if La had not appeared. She came, it seems, from far away, carrying just a sack which rustles and rumbles, jingles and thuds. She is agitated and at first, doesn't accept the newcomer, but there is something attractive about her, something dusty[CB2] and sea like something sunny and loud, something different.

The Episode Strangers, as a part of the series Me Then You Then We, calls for a conversation about solitude and friendship, about communication and misunderstanding, about coexistence through the acceptance of the other and the different, recognizing one's own and other's virtues and riches, which each of us brings to the community with all that it is and the skills it possesses. Me Then You Then Weis a series of interactive, interdisciplinary theatrical events for pre-school and younger primary school children. It was born as the fruit of a collaboration between visual artist Tonka Maleković, musician Lane Juranić and dance artist Zrinka Šimičić Mihanović and as a continuation of the several years' long research and educational project for children (and adults) From Balloon To Elephant, which Multimedia Hut has been running since 2014. In addition to the aforementioned trio, one of the authors of the episode Strangers is dance artist and musician Nastasja Štefanić. Three years ago, the From Baloon To Elephant project was launched with the goal of exploring new forms of art education and broadening interest in contemporary artistic expression, especially among the younger population. From the very beginning, the emphasis has been on an interdisciplinary approach, improvisation and to stimulate the active participation of passersby and spectators in the creative process. After the project was developed for 2 years through different but primarily workshop formats for children and parents, which were held in interiors and public city spaces etc. – and through the series of theatrical events Me Then You Then We – we want to put the previous experiences in the service of a performance as a collective creative happening.

The project Me Then You Then Wewas supported by the City of Zagreb and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia. In 2017 it was placed in the Rucksack (full) of Culture programme of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia.
